UK als Guest of Honour bei Waves Vienna 2026
Waves Vienna 2026 will feature a special international focus: the United Kingdom as Guest of Honour. This spotlight places one of Europe’s most influential music scenes at the centre of the festival, creating space for artistic exchange, new collaborations and deeper dialogue between the UK and Europe. A diverse programme is currently in development.
Waves Vienna 2026 setzt einen besonderen internationalen Fokus: Das Vereinigte Königreich wird als Guest of Honour im Zentrum des Festivals stehen. Damit rücken wir eine der prägendsten Musiklandschaften Europas in den Mittelpunkt und schaffen Raum für künstlerischen Austausch, neue Kooperationen und vertieften Dialog zwischen UK und Europa. Ein vielfältiges Programm ist bereits in Vorbereitung.

The Waves Vienna Conference 2026 offers a first glimpse into this year’s programme. Alongside the Guest of Honour UK, key topics include sync for film and games, artificial intelligence and copyright, as well as new perspectives from the CEE region. With the launch of the Young Professionals Programme, we are also creating dedicated formats for newcomers to the music industry. More highlights and speakers will be announced soon.
Die Waves Vienna Conference 2026 gibt erste Einblicke in ihr diesjähriges Programm. Neben dem Guest of Honour UK stehen Themen wie Sync für Film und Games, Künstliche Intelligenz und Urheberrecht sowie neue Perspektiven aus dem CEE-Raum im Fokus. Giovanna Fartacek joins as Festival Director of Waves Vienna
Giovanna Fartacek verstärkt die Festivalleitung von Waves Vienna
From January 2026, Giovanna Fartacek will join Thomas Heher as festival director of Waves Vienna. A long-standing collaborator, she will focus more strongly on the festival’s strategic direction and play an active role in shaping the future development of Waves Vienna.
Ab Jänner 2026 übernimmt Giovanna Fartacek gemeinsam mit Thomas Heher die Festivalleitung von Waves Vienna. Als langjährige Wegbegleiterin des Festivals wird sie künftig verstärkt an der strategischen Ausrichtung und Weiterentwicklung von Waves Vienna arbeiten.

CEIFA – Central European Independent Festivals Award Gewinner
The CEIFA – Central European Independent Festivals Association Award recognises outstanding independent festivals from Central Europe. The 2025 winner was Fraj Festival (Slovakia), followed by Habrovka Festival (Czech Republic) in second place and Kunstmue Festival (Austria) in third.
Der CEIFA – Central European Independent Festivals Association Award würdigt herausragende unabhängige Festivals aus Zentraleuropa. Gewinner 2025 ist das Fraj Festival (Slowakei). Den zweiten Platz belegte das Habrovka Festival (Tschechien), gefolgt vom Kunstmue Festival (Österreich), einer wichtigen Plattform für junge Artists und kulturellen Austausch.
