In 2027, we’re bringing together solo artists, emerging professionals and festival directors from Denmark, Norway and Austria to build projects that make the European live music scene fairer, more sustainable and more open. Across three countries and three showcase festivals, teams pick a real challenge in the industry, develop a project to tackle it, and leave with a plan to keep it going.
What to expect
Live Incubator 2027 is a one-year programme where a small cross-border team works side by side to turn ideas into real projects for the live music sector. The directors of Trondheim Calling, SPOT Festival and Waves Vienna take part as participants, not just as partners, alongside three solo artists and three emerging professionals. Through camps at the three festivals and online sessions in between, you’ll explore the challenges facing the scene, from access and representation to mental health and the future of independent venues and festivals. Together you’ll develop and test a project, and pitch it to the industry at Waves Vienna.
You’ll get mentoring, a network that reaches across borders, and hands-on experience turning an idea into something real. Travel, accommodation and conference access are covered, and you’ll play a showcase at all three festivals along the way.
One artist will be selected from each country.

Live Incubator 2027 sucht drei Solo-Künstler*innen, die hinter den Kulissen mitgestalten und Projekte entwickeln möchten, die Europas Live-Musikszene gerechter, nachhaltiger und offener machen.
2027 bringen wir Solo-Künstler*innen, New Talents aus der Musikbranche und Festivalleiter*innen aus Dänemark, Norwegen und Österreich zusammen. Bei drei Showcase-Festivals in drei Ländern widmen sich die Teams konkreten Herausforderungen der Branche, entwickeln gemeinsam Lösungsansätze und erarbeiten einen Plan, um ihre Projekte langfristig weiterzuführen.
Das erwartet dich
Live Incubator 2027 ist ein einjähriges Programm, bei dem du in einem kleinen, länderübergreifenden Team Ideen in konkrete Projekte für die Live-Musikbranche umsetzt. Die Leiterinnen von Trondheim Calling, SPOT Festival und Waves Vienna sind selbst Teil der Teams. Gemeinsam mit drei Solo-Künstler*innen und drei New Talents aus der Musikbranche arbeiten sie aktiv an den Projekten mit.
Bei gemeinsamen Camps im Rahmen der drei Festivals und begleitenden Online-Sessions beschäftigt ihr euch mit den Herausforderungen der Szene: von Zugang und Repräsentation über psychische Gesundheit bis hin zur Zukunft unabhängiger Spielstätten und Festivals. Ihr entwickelt und erprobt ein gemeinsames Projekt und präsentiert es beim Waves Vienna vor Branchenvertreter*innen.
Dich erwarten Mentoring, ein internationales Netzwerk und praktische Erfahrung darin, eine Idee Wirklichkeit werden zu lassen. Reisekosten, Unterkunft und Konferenzzugänge werden übernommen. Außerdem spielst du bei jedem der drei Festivals ein Showcase.
Pro Land wird eine Künstler*in ausgewählt.
