Giovanna Fartacek verstärkt die Festivalleitung von Waves Vienna
From January 2026, Giovanna Fartacek will join Thomas Heher as festival director of Waves Vienna. A long-standing collaborator, she will focus more strongly on the festival’s strategic direction and play an active role in shaping the future development of Waves Vienna.
Ab Jänner 2026 übernimmt Giovanna Fartacek gemeinsam mit Thomas Heher die Festivalleitung von Waves Vienna. Als langjährige Wegbegleiterin des Festivals wird sie künftig verstärkt an der strategischen Ausrichtung und Weiterentwicklung von Waves Vienna arbeiten.

CEIFA – Central European Independent Festivals Award Gewinner
The CEIFA – Central European Independent Festivals Association Award recognises outstanding independent festivals from Central Europe. The 2025 winner was Fraj Festival (Slovakia), followed by Habrovka Festival (Czech Republic) in second place and Kunstmue Festival (Austria) in third.
Der CEIFA – Central European Independent Festivals Association Award würdigt herausragende unabhängige Festivals aus Zentraleuropa. Gewinner 2025 ist das Fraj Festival (Slowakei). Den zweiten Platz belegte das Habrovka Festival (Tschechien), gefolgt vom Kunstmue Festival (Österreich), einer wichtigen Plattform für junge Artists und kulturellen Austausch.

Once again this year, numerous acts from the UpBeat program will be part of Waves Vienna. No fewer than ten artists will perform in the festival’s clubs along Vienna’s Gürtel from October 2–4, 2025.

For its 15th anniversary, Waves Vienna introduces a brand-new Saturday afternoon live program with free admission at Lucia, Loop, and Coco. All acts will also perform in the official evening schedule on different festival days. Featured artists include Karl Kave & Durian (CH), GB (DK), Admire (ES), Cordoba78 (AT), Adjua (UK), The Guilt (SE), Fraeulein Astrid (AT), Frachild (AT), and BRÖ (FR).
Zum 15-jährigen Jubiläum präsentiert Waves Vienna erstmals ein eigenes Nachmittagsprogramm am Samstag: In den Venues Lucia, Loop und Coco treten Acts mit kostenlosem Eintritt auf. Alle Künstler:innen sind zudem im regulären Abendprogramm an verschiedenen Festivaltagen zu sehen.
