From 1–4 October 2025, we celebrated the 15th edition of Waves Vienna – and what a celebration it was! With 15,411 visitors, four days of extraordinary music, inspiring encounters, and an atmosphere of pure positivity, this year’s festival was a resounding success.
Friday sold out completely, and throughout the week, our diverse program filled every venue with energy and excitement. Waves Vienna once again confirmed its position as one of Europe’s leading showcase festivals.
118 Acts from 24 Countries on 11 Stages
Over 118 bands from 24 countries performed on 11 stages along Vienna’s Gürtel, offering a vibrant cross-section of today’s European and international pop and club culture.
Conference with International Reach
Together with mica – music austria, we hosted a rich and varied music conference around Yppenplatz.
A total of 1,479 delegates from 30 countries took part in discussions, workshops, and networking sessions addressing the most relevant issues in the international music industry.
An Open and Inclusive Festival
We were especially proud of our audience’s diversity:
51.9% of ticket buyers identified as female, 39.3% as male, and 8.8% chose no pronouns. This once again reflects our commitment to being an open and inclusive festival for everyone who loves music.

Awards & Highlights
Several awards were presented during the festival:
- The XA – Export Award, organized with Austrian Music Export, SKE/Austro Mechana, BMWKMS, and Radio FM4, went to Filiah, including €4,000 prize money, a €5,000 touring grant, and ongoing support from AME and FM4.
- The “The Gap – Young Talent Award” for music journalism was awarded to Jannik Hiddeßen (€1,000).
- Austrovinyl presented the Marketing Award for the first time to Admire, which includes a 500-vinyl pressing.
- The CEIFA – Central European Indie Festivals Award went to FRAJ Festival (SK), receiving €1,500 and €7,000 worth of media support from The Gap magazine.

Vom 1. bis 4. Oktober 2025 feierten wir die 15. Ausgabe des Waves Vienna – und durften uns über einen großartigen Erfolg freuen: 15.411 Besucher*innen erlebten vier Tage voller außergewöhnlicher Musik, inspirierender Begegnungen und durchgehend positiver Stimmung.
Der Freitag war restlos ausverkauft, und auch an den übrigen Tagen sorgte das vielfältige Programm für volle Venues und begeisterte Rückmeldungen. Damit festigen wir unseren Ruf als eines der führenden Showcase-Festivals Europas.
118 Acts aus 24 Ländern auf 11 Bühnen
Insgesamt 118 Bands aus 24 Ländern präsentierten an vier Tagen auf elf Bühnen entlang des Wiener Gürtels einen spannenden Querschnitt durch aktuelle europäische und internationale Pop- und Clubkultur.
Konferenz mit internationaler Beteiligung
Parallel zum Musikprogramm veranstalteten wir gemeinsam mit mica – music austria eine abwechslungsreiche Musikkonferenz rund um den Yppenplatz.
1.479 Delegierte aus 30 Ländern nahmen an Diskussionsrunden, Workshops und Networking-Formaten teil, in denen die zentralen Themen der internationalen Musikindustrie behandelt wurden.
Ein offenes Festival für alle
Besonders erfreulich war auch die Vielfalt unseres Publikums:

Awards & Auszeichnungen
Im Rahmen des Festivals wurden mehrere Preise verliehen:
- Der XA – Export Award, organisiert gemeinsam mit Austrian Music Export, SKE/Austro Mechana, BMWKMS und Radio FM4, ging an Filiah. Der Preis ist mit 4.000 € Preisgeld, einem Tourneekostenzuschuss von 5.000 € sowie weiterem Support durch AME und FM4 dotiert.
- Der „The Gap – Young Talent Award“ für Musikjournalismus wurde an Jannik Hiddeßen vergeben (1.000 €).
- Erstmals vergab Austrovinyl den Marketing Award an Admire, verbunden mit einer Pressung von 500 Vinylplatten.
- Der CEIFA – Central European Indie Festivals Award ging an das FRAJ Festival (SK), das zusätzlich 1.500 € Preisgeld und 7.000 € Werbeunterstützung im Partner-Magazin The Gap erhielt.
